The residue that is never applied
Polar residues do not arrive in a seed by accident. Glyphosate, diquat and paraquat reach grain overwhelmingly through pre-harvest desiccation — the crop is sprayed to dry it down ahead of the combine. Our growers do not desiccate. Production is fully mechanized and the crop is taken on its own natural dry-down. That is why the polar panel reads the way it does. It is not a reason to skip the panel: we still run it on every lot, because a practice is not a proof.
The residues a standard screen cannot see
Most conventional chia is screened on a standard multiresidue panel that physically cannot see the polar pesticides — glyphosate, AMPA, paraquat, diquat, phosphonic acid. Those are the ones that fail a lot at the port. We run them, per lot, at Primoris in Belgium (LC-MS/MS, QuPPe polar method), and report the figure — not just “pass.”
